Kelvin Cheatle
Chief People Officer
My experience
I have worked for many years in HR, both in local authorities and within the NHS. I have worked in all three sectors – public, private, and not for profit. I started my NHS career as HR Director at Broadmoor Hospital, then West London Mental Health Trust.
I spent six years at Capsticks doing national work and as President of the Healthcare People Management Association. I returned to the mainstream NHS as HR Director at Kingston Hospital in 2016. I am experienced in acute, mental health and community HR issues and I also perform HR Director roles at a South West London level.
Thoughts on the role
I’m really excited to undertake this role for both trusts – I feel very privileged to have been given this opportunity. I want to build a first class workforce function that is fully integrated and respects the identities and traditions of both trusts.
I aim to lead from the front, but in an inclusive way. Diversity in all its forms is very important to me, so I will directly manage the diversity and inclusion function.
Workforce supply, the health and wellbeing of our staff and supporting first class leadership are our key priorities and I am very much looking forward to the challenge.
Something about me
I am both a published author and songwriter! I love music and writing and when I give up the day job these are my passions.
I am a lifelong West Ham fan and I live in Richmond with my wife, who is a professional musician, and two dogs.
My motto is “treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself” – this is still a good code in a mad world!
