My experience

I started my nursing career at Beatson Oncology Centre following my training in Glasgow. I have extensive clinical, leadership, and operational experience having worked in a variety of senior nursing roles in the NHS, including Barts Health NHS Trust and The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Trust.

I became Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Kingston Hospital in 2016 and I was appointed Chief Nurse across HRCH and Kingston Hospital Foundation Trust in August 2021.

At Kingston, I am proud to have been responsible for our outstanding cancer services and led a collaborative project with NHS England which resulted in the introduction of the faster cancer diagnosis pilot. I have also developed a number of nurse consultant roles in multiple specialties, and more recently initiated a strategic project to strengthen the role of AHPs.

Thoughts on the role

Having been working across both organisations for almost a year now, I have already seen the benefits of collaborating across community and acute services. I’m really excited about working with nursing, midwifery and AHP colleagues to find new and innovative ways to improve the experience of our patients whilst providing richer career and development opportunities for staff.

Something about me

I’m really proud of my two wonderful children Harris and Evie, and I’m also proud of my Celtic genes, having been born and brought up in Ayr in Scotland.
