Sam Armstrong

Director of Corporate Affairs

Experience

I’ve worked in senior governance roles in the NHS for the past 13 years. I started my NHS career as Trust Secretary of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and subsequently was appointed as Company Secretary of Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. I later became Company Secretary of Barking, Having and Redbridge University Hospital Trust.

I have also worked in similar roles in an interim capacity across the country.

Before joining Kingston Hospital in March 2021, I was Trust Secretary of the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.

Thoughts on the new role

I’m looking forward to working alongside colleagues to set up a new governance structure, which will enable both organisations to achieve our wider strategic objectives across Kingston, Richmond and Hounslow, as well as other local boroughs that we serve.

Working in partnership and streamlining our processes will bring many benefits to our staff and to our patients and service users.

Something about me

I grew up in Australia and although I moved to the UK almost 17 years ago, I have managed to keep hold of my accent!

Outside of work, I am a trustee and treasurer of a charity and I’ve been the captain of a social cricket team for the last five years. I’m also an avid supporter of Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League.
